Officer Peter Linnenkamp
Officer Peter Linnenkamp was sitting in his patrol car at the corner of Central and Magnolia. Usually when the streets are closed, we just pull up to the officer, explain that we need to pick up gear from the Bayou, and, while sometimes it takes a little sweet talking, they have, without exception, let us by with no problem. (I might add that, without exception, they have always been standing outside their patrol car...not inside, enjoying the air conditioning of the car, polluting our air while "protecting our streets") Not last night.
When Micky approached, Linnenkamp squawked at her from inside his car and told her "It's time to go home, honey". After unsuccessfully trying to get him to get his lazy ass out of the squad car, she turned right on Magnolia without further incident.
Carlos wasn't so lucky. He pulled up closer to the squad car, causing Linnekamp to get out of his car and immediately brandishing his baton. I was watching through the Bayou window, about 20 feet away, so I couldn't hear what was being said. I was intently watching when I saw Carlos simply back up and proceed down Magnolia. Linnenkamp ran back to his car and almost immediately 2 other squad cars came racing down the bus lane. I tried to call Carlos to ask what had just happened but he didn't answer his phone. Micky then called and told me that the cop was being an ass (and a sexist). I told her just to park and we'll wait it out. Then Carlos comes driving down Central from the opposite direction. I went outside as he walked across the street and approached Linnenkamp's car, but still standing on the sidewalk. Linnenkamp jumps out of his car, throws Carlos against the car and put handcuffs on him (Carlos said they were so tight he couldn't feel his hands). He then threw Carlos in the back and jumped in the front, rolling up his window. I walked up to where Carlos had been standing just moments before. After about 5 minutes of standing there, Linnekamp rolled down his window and barked at me (and when I say "barked", I really mean "SPLURGED", "you need something?". I asked what Carlos was being charged with and he said "Misdemeanor Traffic" and mumbled something about having run-in's with Carlos before (not true). I asked if I could get Carlos' keys so I could move his car, which he gave to me about 10 minutes later.
We discussed the situation with a few bike cops who just rolled their eyes. Dan Dyer tried to explain to Linnekamp that Carlos worked at the Bayou that night and he said something like "ya...I've heard that a hundred times already". We packed up Carlos' car and then loaded all of my gear onto the sidewalk and sat and waited. I watched no less than three cars illegally turn left into the bus lane while Linnenstuprick was busy writing up Carlos (instead of doing his job...protecting the public). After about 35 minutes, LinienKamphHiEL barked again over his speaker, this time telling me and Micky we had better "clean up all our trash" (I assume, meaning the $3000 worth of gear we had sitting with us on the sidewalk that he had just arrested Carlos for trying to pick up!)
Finally he speeded off with Carlos in the car and I was able to bring my car up and load out. Carlos was arrested at about 2:30am, he didn't show up "in the system" until about 7am. I posted bond at 7:45am. He got out about 12:45pm. Official charge: Failure to obey a police officer. Traffic Misdemeanor. So I did some research on this angry Linnenkamp guy (Linnenkamp....sounds like a relaxing vacation spot right?) Ah, Linnen Camp. We get to wear linnen and go camping? SWEET!
Or possibly a name for someone who likes to incarcerate blacks, or puerto ricans or JEWS???
You tell me which one...Linnenkamp is the same OPD "Officer" that tasered a guy that was chained to a hospital bed back in 2005. So apparently Carlos is lucky he didn't get tasered:

But then I watched this video on WESH. Wait for the part where Linnenkamp responds to the question on whether he would react differently next time...he says that instead of a taser, next time he would use a baton. http://www.wesh.com/news/8534393/detail.html
Micky thought that he just had some vendetta against musicians, but the he's a fucking bagpipe player: Orlando Firefighters Pipes and Drums
Most of our OPD officers downtown are great. They talk to us. The care because they're part of our community. But a few minorty officers don't, and the give the whole Orlando Police Department a bad reputation. I know it's a commradare...you don't want to bad-mouth another officer. But what is right is right. We all want a downtown where people come and spend money and we all enjoy a safe atmosphere. But when local entertainers are being arrested for simply trying to pick up their gear from an established entertainment venue...who wins?
Peter Linnenkamp: I see a change of jobs in your future. I'm sure you're regularly seeing a professional for your "problems". Perhaps we could avoid all this and just set up a Peter Linnenkamp help fund. You're a piper, let's just pipe this thing out. The bagpipe is an old and cherished instrument. There is not a musician that I know that wouldn't appreciate a good piper. It will only serve to help OPD and Orlando. For once in your life...stop being part of the problem.
